We are delighted to share that the Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s album of concert works by John Williams, Bernard Herrmann and Hugo Friedhofer has been named one of the ten recommended recordings of September in Ritmo’s “EN plataFORMA” selection.
Critic Juan Berberana places the album at number nine. He praises three of the best film composers of the 20th century in works written for the concert hall, and finds them full of imagination. He notes that some listeners will be surprised by John Williams’s avant-garde side in the 1960s, calling the album “a real find.”
The recording features flautist Jin Ta, clarinettist Ma Yue and oboist Rachel Walker, with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra conducted by Darrell Ang and Joshua Tan.
