Born in Brescia, Italy, conductor Riccardo Frizza burst onto the scene in 2001 when he conducted Rigoletto during the Teatro Regio di Parma’s celebrations marking the centenary of Giuseppe Verdi’s death. Still very young at the time, he had already founded his own orchestra in his hometown.
Frizza’s career has been defined by a deep commitment to the symphonic repertoire, taking him to the podium of some of the world’s leading ensembles. His programming ranges from the Romantic tradition to contemporary music, with a particular focus on Italian composers Giuseppe Martucci and Ottorino Respighi.
Their works are at the center of Italian Perspectives, recorded with the Bamberger Symphoniker for PENTATONE and released in February 2026. The album has already drawn great attention, including a five-star review from Concerti: “A recording that impresses with its virtuosic precision, rich soloistic color, and lean sound for Italian symphonic music.”
Riccardo has recorded three albums for PENTATONE released physically on standard CD and digitally across all platforms.
