Album information

In 2010, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra began recording the ten major operatic works of Richard Wagner, all under the baton of Marek Janowski. The operas were recorded live in concert versions, enabling the listener exclusively to concentrate on the music.

The concept behind this critically acclaimed cycle is as
disarmingly simple as it is ingenious: to present only what Wagner himself has to say. There is no drama on stage to compete with the flow of the music, and no director to support – or ruin – Wagner’s poetry.

Intelligently performed, brilliantly sung and beautifully recorded, this Walküre is the 8th release in PENTATONE’s unique Wagner Edition.
