				Album information
Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) is arguably the greatest composer of instrumental music during the second half of the nineteenth century, and a true master of musical invention with limited means, squeezing every musical drop out of his themes and melodies. Brahms Famous Pieces contains some of his greatest music, ranging from solo piano works, chamber music, songs and symphonies to his monumental German Requiem. They are performed by top musicians and ensembles such as Julia Fischer, Magdalena Kožená, Arabella Steinbacher, Annelien Van Wauwe, Daniel Müller-Schott, Marek Janowski, Herbert Blomstedt and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig.
