Pianist on Charlotte Hu’s ‘Goyescas’: “a colourful, lyrical style”

We are delighted to share that Charlotte Hu’s Goyescas has been reviewed by Arnoud Heerings for the Dutch magazine Pianist, which gives the album a rating of 9.

Heerings praises Hu’s interpretation of Granados’s piano suite, which he describes as played in a colourful, lyrical style. He highlights her rich palette of tonal nuances and her willingness to use a touch of rubato. Reflecting on the recording, he sees in it a performance in which the vision of the performer is increasingly central. He also pictures Hu’s Spain as a landscape adorned with spring flowers, a poetic image that sums up the warmth and colour of her playing.

Goyescas was released on 5 June and pairs Granados’s complete Goyescas suite with two of his Danzas españolas.
