Our dynamic Product Manager, Ana Milovanović, has selected pianist Denis Kozhukhin‘s recording of Haydn sonatas for October’s pick of the month:
“I was very curious to hear Denis Kozhukhin playing these sonatas. As pianists, we know these works incredibly well. Most of us have played them from a very young age and returned to them many times over the years. Perhaps because of that, we sometimes lose the lightness and humour that are such an essential part of Haydn’s music.
Denis brings exactly that back. His musical ideas feel so natural and clear that you immediately want to keep listening, simply to see where he takes the music next. His articulation is refined, his playing precise and disciplined, but there is always room for wit, humour and a real sense of fun.
I found this recording genuinely refreshing. It is thoughtful and beautifully played, full of character, but never takes itself too seriously. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves Haydn, and I know this is a recording I’ll keep coming back to.”
Haydn: Sonatas is available to stream and purchase worldwide.
