Financial Times Reviews Carnevale 1729

"Mezzo Ann Hallenberg excels in her calm, warm-toned singing of the slower arias, and there are stylish accompaniments from Il Pomo d’Oro under Stefano Montanari."

Financial Times gave a 4 stars review for our release of Carnevale 1729 performed by Ann HallenbergStefano Montanari , il pomo d'oro. The Carnival of Venice in 1729 was quite unlike any other.Several of the most fashionable composers rose to the occasion, writing ravishing music for spectacular productions which often pitted the singers against each other in breathtaking displays of virtuosity. Read a glimpse of the review below.

Works by Albinoni, Giacomelli, Leo, Orlandini, Porpora and Vinci are represented, most of them in first recordings. Mezzo Ann Hallenberg excels in her calm, warm-toned singing of the slower arias, and there are stylish accompaniments from Il Pomo d’Oro under Stefano Montanari.
