We are delighted to share that Moto Perpetuo has featured Yulianna Avdeeva’s Metanoia in a news piece on the album and its video.
The piece presents the album as a personal journey: “Avdeeva approaches these works as a deeply personal and philosophical journey, revealing a Liszt preoccupied with faith, mortality and the limits of human experience.” It also notes that Liszt abandoned many of the conventions of Romantic piano writing in favour of daring harmonies, compressed forms and an introspective musical language that would later influence composers including Bartók, Debussy, Ravel and Scriabin.
Metanoia was released on 28 August. It traces Liszt’s transformation from virtuoso to visionary through his late piano works, alongside the Sonata in B minor.
