We are delighted to share that Charlotte Hu’s Goyescas has received a five-star review in BBC Music Magazine.
Critic Jeremy Pound notes that while much of Goya’s work “can be fairly dark and disturbing,” Granados’s famous six-movement suite is also “imbued with Spanish dance and much besides.” Whether “tripping beguilingly in the opening ‘Los Requiebros’ or delving deeply into heartfelt matters in ‘El amor y la muerte’,” he writes, “Charlotte Hu makes light of Goyescas’s notorious technical challenges in performances that are full of passion.”
Released on 5 June, Goyescas pairs Granados’s monumental suite with two Spanish Dances, No. 2, “Oriental,” and No. 5, “Andaluza.” It is Charlotte Hu’s second album for PENTATONE, following her debut, Liszt: Metamorphosis, in 2024.
