Dear to Us marks the dazzling debut of violinist sisters Hina & Fiona, already acclaimed as soloists with milestones such as Hina’s 2023 Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition win and Fiona’s New York Philharmonic debut at 16. Joined by pianist Rohan De Silva, they showcase their unique musical bond in a vibrant program of classics and discoveries by Halvorsen, Moszkowski, Ysaÿe, Rózsa, and Anna Clyne.
Dear to Us is an introduction to us: our journeys both as individuals and together. Through this album, we would like to take you on a voyage through time and nostalgia, across pieces we grew up with, as well as other works we hope to unearth and explore together. Despite our almost identical upbringings and journeys in music which have equipped us with our foundations of playing, we have always pursued our own artistic visions and prioritized our unique passions. As a result, each of us has developed her own personal taste and authenticity, which is the core of what makes it interesting to play with one another (and perhaps more complicated to rehearse with decorum…) That we are strikingly different as people and artists allows our individually distinct, even opposite, personalities to ultimately join forces when we perform together.

Born in New York to French-Vietnamese and Japanese parents, these gifted sisters take us on a compelling journey through technical brilliance and heartfelt expression, from the fiery virtuosity of Ravel’s Tzigane and Sarasate’s Navarra to the tender warmth of Ponce’s Estrellita. Dear to Us explores the sisters’ extraordinary synchronicity, paired with their distinctive voices and creates a musical experience both intimate and exhilarating.
