Goldscheider’s Mozart Praised in Gramophone

We are delighted to share that Ben Goldscheider’s Mozart Horn Concertos, recorded with the Münchener Kammerorchester, has been reviewed in Gramophone.

Critic David Threasher highlights Goldscheider’s total command of the music and its technical challenges, and his persuasive interpretations, aided by cadenzas and lead-ins from Andreas Staier. He also praises the Münchener Kammerorchester’s shapely accompaniment, which maintains drive and conviction under the combined direction of Goldscheider and concertmaster Susanne von Gutzeit. Threasher concludes that the recording stands easily among a fiercely competitive field, with performances of such joie de vivre that even Schubert’s melancholy “might have been momentarily eased.”

Released on 2 October, the album marks Ben Goldscheider’s PENTATONE debut and brings together all four of Mozart’s horn concertos, presented in reverse order from the Fourth to the First.
