We’re pleased to share that Henry Purcell’s haunting aria “When I am laid” from Dido and Aeneas, Z. 626, Act III, has been featured in Season 3 of the Dutch crime drama series Sleepers, distributed by Videoland.
Sleepers follows detective Martin Oudkerk as he faces an increasingly difficult choice between the underworld and the world above, with his family ties and personal demons pushing him towards a life-changing decision.
Performed by La Nuova Musica, conducted by David Bates, with soloists Tim Mead, Fleur Barron, Matthew Brook and Nicky Spence, this moving interpretation brings Purcell’s timeless music to the screen.
We’re delighted to see PENTATONE recordings reaching new audiences through the power of television.
