‘Kurtág: Játékok’ with Pierre-Laurent Aimard nominated for 2026 Edison Klassiek

We’re thrilled to announce that Kurtág: Játékok, performed by pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, has been nominated for a 2026 Edison Klassiek Award in the Solo Instrumental category!

The jury praised Aimard’s “dedication and perfection” in taking on Kurtág’s monumental Játékok — a collection of more than 400 piano miniatures. From this vast body of work, Aimard carefully selected 81 pieces, with the approval of György Kurtág himself.

The jury’s reasoning (translated from Dutch): “There are few pianists who display as much dedication and perfection as Pierre-Laurent Aimard. These are qualities you also need when embarking on a challenging project like Kurtág’s Jatékok. The complete work consists of more than 400 piano miniatures, and from this mountain of pieces, Aimard selected 81—with great care and with the approval of Kurtág himself. These 81 pieces can be heard on this album, and it is fascinating to hear how Pierre-Laurent Aimard manages to conjure all the necessary emotions and colors from the keys, whether lyrical, expressionistic, humorous, or contemplative.”

Congratulations to Pierre-Laurent Aimard on this well-deserved recognition!
