PENTATONE’s fantastic Sync & Metadata Coordinator Wojciech Basiakowski has selected Dialogos as March’s Personal Pick of the Month!
“As someone who lives and breathes early music, I am constantly drawn to projects that do more than revive the past, projects that allow historical material to breathe in the present. Dialogos is exactly that.
From a repertoire perspective, this project reflects an approach I value strongly: engaging with early traditions as material for thoughtful artistic exploration. The result is a recording that feels deeply rooted, yet unmistakably contemporary in its expression.
The collaboration between Holland Baroque and Constantinople unfolds with remarkable sensitivity.
The recording captures almost chamber-like in its intimacy, while offering a rich and carefully balanced sound image. The timbral dialogue between ensembles is shaped with remarkable sensitivity, allowing distinct colours to coexist without blending into uniformity. The interplay between strings, plucked instruments and voice feels both precise and organic. Nothing is overstated, yet every detail carries weight.
What I find most compelling is how naturally this repertoire sits together. It reminds us that early music was often shaped by exchange, adaptation, and curiosity. This recording captures that spirit without announcing it. It simply lets the listener experience it.
That idea of dialogue resonates far beyond the music itself. At PENTATONE, we are equally committed to creating space for artistic exchange, for collaboration across borders and traditions, and for recordings that invite genuine listening. Projects like Dialogos reflect that mission in a particularly meaningful way, embodying openness, craftsmanship, and the courage to explore.
For me, that is precisely why I am proud to be part of the PENTATONE team and to contribute to bringing such projects to life.”
