Camilla Vickerage, PENTATONE’S Sales & Communications Manager shares her thoughts on ‘Golden Age’.
“I am officially obsessed with this album. The artwork is sublime, the photoshoot glorious, and the tone, emotion, musicality, and videos—everything—is simply outstanding. Featuring soprano Erin Morley and tenor Lawrence Brownlee, joined by the Münchner Rundfunkorchester under conductor Ivan Repušić, Golden Age is a collection of arias by Gaetano Donizetti, Gioachino Rossini, Georges Bizet, Léo Delibes, and Giuseppe Verdi, celebrating the ‘Golden Age’ of opera.
I wouldn’t call myself an opera aficionado, but I found this recording both accessible and immensely enjoyable. It was the photos that drew me in at first—being a visual person, I was immediately struck by the versatility of the images of Erin and Larry. Whether used as a cover, poster, social media post, or advert, they looked stunning. Then, when working with the videos, I was captivated by the vocals—the warmth and expression radiating from both Erin and Larry are irresistible. They also reveal how some of those seemingly impossible notes are achieved, and wow, what an impact!
It also helps that Erin, Larry, and their teams are not only dedicated but also warm, friendly, and gracious—making it a pure delight to work with them. I wholeheartedly recommend exploring Golden Age: a technically brilliant, deeply rewarding, and empowering album.”
‘Golden Age’ is out now.
