After a brilliant start to his career, tenor Stuart Neill has sung roles such as Arturo in Bellini’s I Puritani at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and at the State Opera in Vienna, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at La Scala, and Riccardo in Oberto at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden.
He made his début as Manrico in Il Trovatore and as Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. He has also sung Radames in Aida at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. Stuart Neill has also performed at the Opera Company of Philadelphia and at the opera-houses in Dallas and Chicago, with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco and Boston Symphony Orchestras, and with the Staatskapelle Dresden (Germany). He has worked with such prominent conductors as Sir Colin Davis, Sir Andrew Davis, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Wolfgang Sawallisch and James Levine.
Most recently, he has sung the role of Don Carlo at La Scala, Milan and performed in Verdi’s Requiem under Zubin Mehta in Florence, at the final concert of the opera festival Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; he has sung in Aida in Tel Aviv and the role of Don Carlo during a tour of Japan, both the latter being productions of La Scala, Milan. He has also sung Faust in La damnation de Faust with the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse.
